Petitioner’s Grievance:
The petitioners, aggrieved by the late issuance of Advertisement Notification No. 01 of 2024, argue that the 8-year delay in recruiting Constables has unfairly disadvantaged candidates who have aged beyond the eligibility limit. They contend that this delay, caused by government inaction, violates their fundamental rights and seeks relief.
Court’s Interim Order:
To address the petitioners’ concern, the court has ordered the following interim relief:
- Age Relaxation: The respondents are directed to consider the petitioners’ candidature for the Constable position, regardless of their exceeding the maximum age limit.
- Provisional Admission: The petitioners’ applications will be provisionally accepted and they will be allowed to appear for the Constable examination along with other eligible candidates.
- Conditional Appointment: Any appointment resulting from this interim order will be subject to the final outcome of the petition.
The case has been listed for further hearing on February 21, 2025. A copy of the order has been provided to the petitioners’ counsel.
